Fab host and great location. It was for the room only but the host was still kind enough to provide us with some snacks as well as cereal in the morning which we really appreciated. Nice easy ride down the hill on our bikes to the ferry to mull feeling well rested. Thank you so much!

Tout en haut du cullin hill, le don muir est idéal pour une pause loin de l'agitation du centre ville ( 15 min à pied) tout en restant proche de la ville. L'accueil est top et la chambre très bonne. C'était Super 👍

It's been a few years since I stayed here, so my review is based upon a 2022 experience, it still however looks to be good value and beats most of the hotels! The single bedroom was comfortable and homely though could get a little chilly during my winter stay, there was a thick duvet supplied which definitely negated the cold. I made the mistake of leaving the heating on during the day (don't do this) as it causes mould and electricity isn't cheap for the host. There is a steep walk up to the property although I found this was all part of the experience, there are buses and taxis if the thought of a hill alarms you. The property is close to Pulpit Hill which gives great views out over Oban and beyond, must visit! Even though bathroom was shared, I never found myself waiting on other guests/holding guests up. The host was friendly and easy to talk too. This is still the cheapest stay in Oban during much of the year, although I paid £25 at the time for a February 2022 stay, prices now seem to be £40-65 for the single room depending on the season. These are very comparable to the hotels given I paid £45 for the cheapest hotel during an early December stay in 2025. Unfortunately breakfast is no longer served at the property which I'd hoped would be reflected in the price a little more, especially since it was served during my £25pn stay. I believe increased costs of electricity, gas, tax and food in the area has harmed properties such as Don Muir so I can't blame them for having to cut back. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had a lovely warm welcome at Don Muir for a 3 night stay, lovely large room with a comfy bed and everything we needed for our stay. Beautiful quiet location up the hill but near enough to get to everything Oban has to offer . Thank you for a lovely stay Russell and Lee

The venue is up a gradual slope, being around a 10 minute walk from the town centre however the view of the harbour during the walk is beautiful. Being close to the pulpit hill viewpoint makes a nice trip being only a couple minutes walk from the venue. Carolyn was very welcoming and seeing me as a female sole traveler, made me feel very safe and gave me suggestions for the best places to visit. The bedroom was perfect and although it is a shared bathroom, which I was nervous about, this proved to be no problem at all.
